  • KFC COLONEL’S SCHOLARS is looking for high school seniors with financial need and an entrepreneurial spirit to qualify for the KFC Colonel’s Scholar Program. Awards are up to $20,000 for tuition, fees, textbooks, room and board. To qualify, graduating high school seniors must earn a minimum high school cumulative GPA of 2.75, enroll in a public college or university within their state of legal residence, plan to pursue a bachelor’s degree, be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, and demonstrate financial need.   • LOUSIANA ASSOCIATION OF SCHOOL ADMINISTRATORS OF FEDERALLY ASSISTED PROGRAMS is offering a scholarship to high school seniors who plan on majoring in education.  This is a one-time award of $1000 to eight qualifying seniors.  Winners will be selected based on the following criteria: Official transcript; extracurricular activies/leadership roles within the community or church, three letters of recommendation (one each from the candidate’s principal, a teacher, and one from a community representative); financial need as described in a one page double-spaced narrative; a one page essay outlining the candidate’s future goals and ambitions.  The application deadline is February 15, 2012.

  • The Sammy 2010 “SCHOLAR ATHLETE MILK MUSTACHE OF THE YEAR” Award is for graduating seniors who push themselves to the limit.  The $7500 scholarship awards students who give back and take care of those around them, while also taking care of their own bodies by making smart choices like drinking milk.  Visit www.bodybymilk.com for rules, information, and application.  The application deadline is March 4, 2012.

  • THE BIGSUN SCHOLARSHIP Organization is offering an annual scholarship to help young athletes succeed in their academic pursuits.  All student athletes are eligible for this award, regardless of which sport they participate in.  The successful applicant must be a high school senior or attending a post secondary institute and currently involved in some sport at that institute or in the community.  Please visit the website at http://www.bigsunathletics.com to learn how to apply.  Deadline is June 22, 2012.
