Friends of Lusher Helps Bring Education Beyond State Funding...

Lusher Charter School prides itself on reaching beyond a state-funded education for our students. We provide a comprehensive arts program from K-12th grade. Our sports program is young and thriving, reaching state playoffs in various sports. Our academics are stellar and one of a kind. Students work with NASA, take courses from Tulane, and get admitted to top universities throughout the country. The Class of 2011 earned $11.9 million dollars in college awards and scholarships.

Lusher Pride 2, our second annual giving campaign was launched at Back-to-School Night in September. Lusher Pride 1 raised more than $100,000 and is supporting every Lusher student in some manner this school year. Our goal for Lusher Pride 2 is to raise $150,000. We have  four short months to accomplish this goal.

Money raised will be used for large projects such as the Willow St. playground and the Freret St. lunch terrace. We will also use it for faculty Professional Development within and beyond our walls, as when we sent the JCC faculty to the National Association for the Education of Young Children conference in Orlando, FL., in November. Perhaps another playground on another campus is in our future!!! Who knows? The annual giving campaign allows us to dream big, complete large scale projects, and build partnerships within and throughout the community.
